Definition of Cellulitis :
Cellulitis is a common bacterial infection beneath the skin caused by staphylococcus or streptococcus organisms especially when cracks ,oozing blisters & injured skin.
Symptoms :
1.Redness on shin or tibia region
2.swollen
3.blister formation
4.Warmth or hot feels when touching
5.Crust formation
Risk factor for Cellulitis :
1.Diabetes
2.Weakened immune system
3.Injured Skin
4.wrong antibiotics induced treatment
5.AIDS/Leukaemia patients
6.Fever
7.Pain
Complication :
(a) Recurrent episode may harm lymphatic drainage system ,e.g.Lymhoedema
(b)Rarely,may affect deep layer infection ,e.g.Necrotizing fascitis
Treatment :
Orally first generation cephalosporin for 7 to 14 days ,if severe forms Cellulitis can use intravenous Flucloxacillin & If pain occurs ,can use anti – inflammatory drugs which over the counter drugs .
